Explainer Film on European Cooperation - Federal Foreign Office

The Challenge

Communicating European Cooperation Clearly and Approachably

For the topic of the Weimar Triangle, a film was to be created that communicates the significance of the cooperation between France, Germany and Poland in a clear and accessible way. The goal was to show the Weimar Triangle as an important political and geographic core of Europe, while also making clear how this partnership strengthens European integration and provides impetus for the future of the European Union. The aim was to make visible not only the political level, but also the connection between people, networks and joint programs.

The Implementation

The film presents the Weimar Triangle through personal voices and international perspectives. It shows how the forum for dialogue between the three foreign ministers, begun in 1991, has developed into close cooperation on many levels. At the same time, key topics such as foreign policy, economy, energy, environment and civil society are addressed.

The topic becomes especially tangible through references to concrete exchange programs and networks: according to the film, around 30,000 young people and young adults have taken part in joint programs over the past 20 years. The result is a film that connects the political significance of the Weimar Triangle with the idea of European exchange and lived cooperation.
